Sell to AI shoppers

Shopping assistants can buy from your shop through an open standard, on your terms — and an order they place is a sale like any other in your back office.

What it is

An open standard — the Universal Commerce Protocol, UCP for short — lets a shopping assistant find a shop’s catalog, place an order and pay for it. Your shop speaks it from its own address: the standard’s business profile, the catalog, the checkout and the orders are served there, and every order notification sent back to a platform is signed with your shop’s own key. The platform behind the assistant reads your profile, searches your catalog, opens a checkout, pays, and reads the order it placed. There is no side door: the same engine, records and rules that run your till run this.

What you control

Every setting is yours, and the strict default is off: nothing is listed until you name the collections to list; no platform may buy until you list it; no country is shipped to until you name it; stock levels stay hidden unless you show them; discount codes are off unless you allow them. You choose the selling location whose prices, stock and tax apply; a price list for assistants; the variants never to list; your flat-rate shipping cards and handling days; the pickup locations; a cap on any checkout; whether a buyer must give an email or phone; your return and warranty policies. Publish when ready, pause at any time, resume when you choose.

From listing to getting paid

You name the collections and publish the channel. A platform you allow reads your profile and catalog, and opens a checkout for the buyer: the lines are what you list, at your prices, with tax at your selling location and the shipping card the buyer chose as its own line. Payment comes first: completing the checkout charges the buyer’s instrument through your own processor account, and the sale is placed and paid in the same step. From there it is an order like any other: you pick it and ship it, with the tracking number, or hold it for pickup, and the platform is sent a signed notification as the order changes; so are refunds and a cancellation.

Getting found

Your shop’s own address under shops.almondtill.com serves the standard’s business profile and catalog, so a platform you allow can read what you sell and buy it. You choose the platforms by listing each one’s profile address; an unlisted platform is refused. The standard defines no directory of shops: being admitted to a platform’s own listing is a step between you and that platform.

We take no cut of the sale: no transaction fees, no percentage of your sales.
