For store managers — notes
The day on the floor — stock in, the count, the till day, the approvals, the return the register could not take, and the rates you set — walked the way the manager's manual walks it.
2. Your day, in the office and at the till
The manager's manual and the assistant manager's are the spine of this deck: order and receive the month's stock, count a category and post the differences, open and close the till day, approve what the till may not do alone, take the return the register could not, set a discount and the rates for foreign cash.
The manager’s manual · The assistant manager’s manual
Notes
Every slide that follows is a chapter of one of the two manuals, and every chapter is a use case with its own course. Open the manual beside the deck if the room wants the screenshots.
3. Stock arrives
The purchase order, the receipt against it, the shelf. Linden & Vale received 26 deliveries last month. A line that is short is held back on the receipt, and the order stays open for it.
Stock arrives — from purchase order to the shelf
Notes
The deliveries figure is counted from the example shop's own receipts. Show a receipt with one line held back; the open purchase orders report lists what is still open.
4. Count the shelves against the books
One category on a count day, the differences posted, and a correction with a reason where the books were wrong. The shrink report then reads the reasons back to you.
Count the shelves against the books · Correct stock on hand, with a reason
Notes
The receiver's manual walks the Tuesday count; the assistant manager's posts it. Every correction carries a reason, and the reasons are what the shrink report groups by.
5. Open, run and close the till day
The drawer opens with its float, runs through the day's sales, pickups and paid-outs, and closes on the Z report. The till sessions closed on the example shop's last closed day: 1.
Open, run and close a till day
Notes
The figure is counted from the example shop's own history. Walk the Z report on screen: the drawer reconciliation is the report the manager signs the day off with.
6. Approve what the till may not do alone
7 actions at the register need a manager's approval when a floor person attempts them — the discount over its limit, the void, the return, the no-sale, the refund that leaves the original tender. Approve from any browser, on the floor or away from it.
Approve what the till may not do alone
Notes
The count is read from the authority registry at the render — the actions hooked to the register today. An approval is a record: who asked, who approved, and for what.
7. The return the register could not take
Some returns go past what the till may do alone: the manager's return takes it in the office and refunds it by the original tender or as store credit.
Notes
The manager's manual has the chapter. Say the two routes plainly: the original tender, or store credit.
8. Discounts, points and staff rates
A coupon, a member's points, a staff rate — the right one at the till, by the rules you set. The example shop's programme: Vale Circle — 1 point per CAD 1.00 spent; 100 points redeem CAD 5.00; the tiers Insider (from 0 points) · Gold (from 2000 points, ×1.5).
Give a discount on a sale — coupon, points or staff
Notes
The programme is the example shop's own record. The discount over its limit is the gated action of the approvals slide — tie the two together.
9. Foreign cash at your rates
Linden & Vale takes CAD and USD; the rates for foreign cash are set by you, and the drawer counts them back in the shop's own currency.
Notes
The manager's manual closes with the rates for foreign cash. The currencies a shop may take come from its organization record; the registry behind them is wider.
10. Reports for the floor
24 ready-made reports: sales by associate, by hour or weekday, by category, brand or division, sell-through and days of supply, shrink by reason, the Z report. Run one on screen or as a file; draft the rest from plain words.
Notes
Read the example shop's own department report if the room asks for a real one: Alterations CAD 825.00 (25 units) · Bags CAD 6179.20 (42 units) · Belts & Small Goods CAD 3151.70 (52 units) · Bottoms CAD 18544.20 (132 units) · Dresses CAD 29829.20 (139 units) · Knitwear CAD 28519.50 (139 units) · Knitwear CAD 27629.20 (145 units) · Outerwear CAD 51839.50 (140 units) · Outerwear CAD 34813.90 (110 units) · Scarves & Hats CAD 2882.60 (43 units) · Shirts CAD 12625.20 (148 units) · Tops CAD 12704.60 (151 units) · Trousers CAD 18633.30 (141 units) · Total CAD 248177.10 (1407 units). Every row is the shop's own, dated on the notes page.
11. Keep the shelves full
Replenishment by the rules you set — low stock against the rules, the purchase order to fill it, the ask to another location when it holds what you need.
Notes
The receiver's manual walks the replenishment and the ask to another location. The low stock report is the back room's first read of the morning.
12. Learn it as a course
78 use cases in the playbook, each one a course with a test and a certificate; the Guide on every page; Aldric to ask, with your real numbers on the screen.
Notes
The courses are the use cases. A manager's course is the manual's chapters in order.
13. Next steps
Apply — no card, no fee — or send this deck to the owner. Prove the system on your own stock beside your current till, and expand when you are satisfied.
Notes
The door is the application. The manager rarely signs; the owner does — say so, and offer the owners' deck.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on these slides is read from the system when the page is rendered — the registries, the rate card, the example shop’s own records — or, for the other side, from dated public list prices. Nothing is typed.
